Opening a new casino creates opportunities. It is a massive gain in terms of revenue it generates, and jobs it opens. However, the new Peterborough Casino is going to be a real hit. In this article, we will be taking a look at what is to be expected from the new casino. Not only that but since it has only opened this week, we’ll be checking out what has already been said about it.

If you’ve been following the latest online gambling news, you’ll surely have come across many articles concerning gambling in the US. And why is that?

Well, earlier this year, the Supreme Court lifted a federal ban on gambling legality making it up to the state to decide whether or not they wish to have casinos and sportsbook operators.

The new Peterborough Casino

After thirteen long months, the new $49m dollar attraction is finally here. With 188 new jobs available, the city will get around $6m a year from casino revenue sharing. Above, you’ll be able to see the rough draft picture of what the wacky Shorelines Peterborough Casino will look like.

Bryan Buchanan, the general manager had this to say:

“We have a 230 seat buffet restaurant, a 40 seat a la carte restaurant to go along with our 500 slot machines and 22 table games,”

City councillor, Lesley Parnell, was also full of praise for the new building:

“This new source of revenue will be dedicated to capital infrastructure projects which is very important because we have a lot of work to do, a lot of roads to fix,”

We did manage to get a response from one of the locals, Lois Phillip, who was one of the first customers in line waiting to enter. She had concerns though:

“I think they’re going to have to put in a new parking lot because instead of building the new hotel, they’re going to need parking,”

The Peterborough facility was modelled after the one in Belleville which opened last year and has proven quite popular.

The Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, which owns Shorelines is planning to open another new gambling centre in Pickering within the next year and a half.
