The latest reports have suggested that Portugal is now another country in which 888Poker has been launched. Coming from the operator, 888 Holdings, the poker brand has now been taken on by Portugal. Let’s take a look at the story as a whole.

To keep up to date with all the latest online gambling news, you’ll need to check out quite a few popular stories that have taken place over the past few days and weeks. For instance, many football clubs have swapped their sponsorship brands to go with gambling firms, as the revenue which they generate is far greater than that of another sponsor. Feel free to head on over there now.

Portugal takes on 888Poker

888Poker will become only the second poker brand in the country after Stars Group’s PokerStars. Portuguese players can count themselves lucky because of the addition of a new version to playing poker.

This will put them in a straight competition with 888Poker’s Spanish customers as a result of the new European interstate poker network.
This will apparently increase player liquidity and will offer customers a greater availability of games and formats.

Here’s a few words from Guy Cohen, who is the Head of B2C at 888 Holdings:

“Portugal is a fantastic opportunity for 888 and we’re excited to be just the second poker operator to enter the market. Players love their poker and there is incredible scope to grow its popularity.

“We’re looking forward to giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy the game. Shared liquidity with 888Poker.es will enhance players’ gaming experience with a greater pool of players and we believe our platform can help lift the entire landscape for poker in Portugal.”

In March, 888 announced the first phase of the roll-out of its new poker platform, Poker 8.

Developed off the back of customer feedback and ongoing research, Cohen confirmed this platform would be available to players in Portugal.

Do you think that 888Poker will be a success in Portugal? We will be keeping a close eye on the matter, as well as report to you on any updates for the new Poker 8 software.
